Quantum of Solace Review

Quantum of Solace is a direct sequel to the 2006 film Casino Royale. It picks up just minutes after Bond captures Mr. White at the end of Casino Royale. White's henchmen chase Bond, but naturally Bond escapes and proceeds to interrogate White. However one of White's men allows him to escape. Bond tells M (who ran out) and she sends him off. He Haiti to track a lead but ends up killing the man. He picks up a suitcase meant for the man, then is shot at by Camille Montes, a Bolivian Secret Service agent (Bond doesn't find this out until later of course.) He tracks her down to a dock where she talks with Dominic Greene, villain of the movie. He sends her in a boat with Bolivia's current dictator but she is rescued by Bond. Bond tracks Greene to an Opera performance called Tosca. It really is a meeting place for Quantum, a terrorist organization.
Here Bond finds out that Greene has bought many miles of piping, and thinks Greene is selling oil. They talk to each other through earpieces in the giftbags, and Bond scares many of the atendees off by saying "You people really should find a better place to meet." Multiple people get up, and Bond gets pictures and sends them to MI6. One of the atendees is Haines, a advisor to the British Prime Minister. Greene leaves the opera, but is interecpted by Bond. A gunfight ensues, which Bond wins. He later lets one of Haine's bodyguards fall of a roof onto Greenes car, and Greene kills him.
M16 belives Bond killed him, and cuts of Bonds passports, funds, etc. He manages to get to Italy by boat however. He meets up with Mathis, the man who Bond thought betrayed him in Casino Royale. He joins Bond however and the two go to La Paz, capital of Bolivia. They are met by Strawberry Fields, a MI6 operative who tells Bond to go back to England. Bond ends up seducing her however. Later, the group attends a fundraiser for Greene's company. Greene tells of his plans to make grow back the worlds vegitation. Bond finds out that Greene acquired land in the middle of a Bolivian desert. Mathis tries to get the local police on thier side by talking with and old General, a friend of his. When Bond leaves the party with Camille, police pull them over and find a beaten up Mathis in the trunk. Bond realises the general betrayed Mathis and kills the policemen. During the firefight Mathis is shot, and tells Bond to forgive Vesper (Bond lover from Casino Royale, who made a deal to save his life. Bond sees it as a betrayal however.) M and MI6 think Bond killed Mathis and the policemen, which causes trouble for Bond. Bond and Camille decide to survey the lands Greene wants in a cargo plane, but they are fired upon by other planes. They end up parachuting out and landing in a deep landfill. While getting out, they discover Greenes plan. Greene wasn't using the piping for oil, he was causing a drought by hoarding the countrys water. He then will sell it back to the Bolivians. They return to La Paz, where they discover that Fields by Greene by being drowned in oil. M tells Bond to surrender to the MI6 operatives, but Bond escapes. He meets Felix Lieter Cia operative in a local bar, and he tells Bond that Greene means to complete his deal with the general. Felix warns Bond to escape because the Cia wants to capture him to secure thier part of Greene's "oil" deal.
Camille had tells Bond her childhood story of how the Bolivian dictator killed her Father, raped her Mother and Sister and set het house on fire. She tells that she needs to kill him. Bond and Camille go to and hotel where the dictator and Greene are set to meet. Greene "convinces" the dictator to make Greene the only person who can sell water in Bolivia. Bond and Camille break into the hotel, and end up destroying a hydrogen fuel cell, which starts a chain of explosions. Camille kills the dictator, and Bond captures Greene. Leaving the burning wreckage, Bond interogates Greene about Quantum and leaves him in the desert with a can of oil. Camille leaves Bond at a train station, after kissing him goodbye.
Bond then goes to Russia to find Vesper's former boyfriend, who is revealed to be a member of Quantum. Bond has some alone time with Yusef, and walks out. When M finds out Bond didn't kill him, she says that she is suprised. Bond tells M that she was right about Vesper (that she didn't betray him). M tells Bond that Greene was found dead in the desert, 2 bullet holes in his head and oil in his stomach (lol). Bond, finaly able to forgive Vesper, walks off into the snow after dropping her necklace in the snow.

Verdict
This movie was not as good as Casino Royale IMO. It has alot of action, but the plot felt a little hollow to me. The Mr. White thing isn't really wrapped up(you see him at Tosca, but thats it.) The stunts and music where great too. Over all, I have to give the movie 4 stars. It would be 5, but like i said, the plot just feels a little weak.
