Quantum of Solace Review

Quantum of Solace is a direct sequel to the 2006 film Casino Royale. It picks up just minutes after Bond captures Mr. White at the end of Casino Royale. White's henchmen chase Bond, but naturally Bond escapes and proceeds to interrogate White. However one of White's men allows him to escape. Bond tells M (who ran out) and she sends him off. He Haiti to track a lead but ends up killing the man. He picks up a suitcase meant for the man, then is shot at by Camille Montes, a Bolivian Secret Service agent (Bond doesn't find this out until later of course.) He tracks her down to a dock where she talks with Dominic Greene, villain of the movie. He sends her in a boat with Bolivia's current dictator but she is rescued by Bond. Bond tracks Greene to an Opera performance called Tosca. It really is a meeting place for Quantum, a terrorist organization.
Here Bond finds out that Greene has bought many miles of piping, and thinks Greene is selling oil. They talk to each other through earpieces in the giftbags, and Bond scares many of the atendees off by saying "You people really should find a better place to meet." Multiple people get up, and Bond gets pictures and sends them to MI6. One of the atendees is Haines, a advisor to the British Prime Minister. Greene leaves the opera, but is interecpted by Bond. A gunfight ensues, which Bond wins. He later lets one of Haine's bodyguards fall of a roof onto Greenes car, and Greene kills him.
M16 belives Bond killed him, and cuts of Bonds passports, funds, etc. He manages to get to Italy by boat however. He meets up with Mathis, the man who Bond thought betrayed him in Casino Royale. He joins Bond however and the two go to La Paz, capital of Bolivia. They are met by Strawberry Fields, a MI6 operative who tells Bond to go back to England. Bond ends up seducing her however. Later, the group attends a fundraiser for Greene's company. Greene tells of his plans to make grow back the worlds vegitation. Bond finds out that Greene acquired land in the middle of a Bolivian desert. Mathis tries to get the local police on thier side by talking with and old General, a friend of his. When Bond leaves the party with Camille, police pull them over and find a beaten up Mathis in the trunk. Bond realises the general betrayed Mathis and kills the policemen. During the firefight Mathis is shot, and tells Bond to forgive Vesper (Bond lover from Casino Royale, who made a deal to save his life. Bond sees it as a betrayal however.) M and MI6 think Bond killed Mathis and the policemen, which causes trouble for Bond. Bond and Camille decide to survey the lands Greene wants in a cargo plane, but they are fired upon by other planes. They end up parachuting out and landing in a deep landfill. While getting out, they discover Greenes plan. Greene wasn't using the piping for oil, he was causing a drought by hoarding the countrys water. He then will sell it back to the Bolivians. They return to La Paz, where they discover that Fields by Greene by being drowned in oil. M tells Bond to surrender to the MI6 operatives, but Bond escapes. He meets Felix Lieter Cia operative in a local bar, and he tells Bond that Greene means to complete his deal with the general. Felix warns Bond to escape because the Cia wants to capture him to secure thier part of Greene's "oil" deal.
Camille had tells Bond her childhood story of how the Bolivian dictator killed her Father, raped her Mother and Sister and set het house on fire. She tells that she needs to kill him. Bond and Camille go to and hotel where the dictator and Greene are set to meet. Greene "convinces" the dictator to make Greene the only person who can sell water in Bolivia. Bond and Camille break into the hotel, and end up destroying a hydrogen fuel cell, which starts a chain of explosions. Camille kills the dictator, and Bond captures Greene. Leaving the burning wreckage, Bond interogates Greene about Quantum and leaves him in the desert with a can of oil. Camille leaves Bond at a train station, after kissing him goodbye.
Bond then goes to Russia to find Vesper's former boyfriend, who is revealed to be a member of Quantum. Bond has some alone time with Yusef, and walks out. When M finds out Bond didn't kill him, she says that she is suprised. Bond tells M that she was right about Vesper (that she didn't betray him). M tells Bond that Greene was found dead in the desert, 2 bullet holes in his head and oil in his stomach (lol). Bond, finaly able to forgive Vesper, walks off into the snow after dropping her necklace in the snow.

Verdict
This movie was not as good as Casino Royale IMO. It has alot of action, but the plot felt a little hollow to me. The Mr. White thing isn't really wrapped up(you see him at Tosca, but thats it.) The stunts and music where great too. Over all, I have to give the movie 4 stars. It would be 5, but like i said, the plot just feels a little weak.

The Dark Knight Review -Spoilers-

The Dark Knight, which I saw today, is one of the best movies I have ever seen. And I see a lot of movies. Since this movie is so awesome, I won't ruin the whole plot for you. But I will talk about my favorite parts of the movie. First of, Heath Ledger. His portrayal of the Joker is in my opinion superb. It is magnificent. He brought a lot of character to the Joker, and I really felt creeped out by the man in the makeup.

The Joker is definitely one of the highlights of the movie.
Another great thing about this movie are the appearances of Scarecrow and Two Face. Their inclusion was pretty cool. I won't say when Two Face appears, but I will say that he has pretty big role. Scarecrow only appears for a little bit, but it was still cool to see some of Gotham's other villains.
Maybe the biggest "bang" in the movie are the explosions. Major explosions include a hospital being blown to the ground, a police car shot with a rocket launcher, and even more mayhem. But the best thing about the movie is the Joker's evil "plans" (I have quotation marks there for a certain reason, go see the movie to find out.) At a certain point in the movie, The Joker has two ferries filled with people stuck in a river. One filled with convicts, another full of citizens. Both boats have a lot of explosives on board, and a detonator to explode the other ship. To mix things up in his 'Social Experiment' Joker says he will blow both boats up at midnight. There are many other awesome scenes like this in the movie.
Verdict and Final Words

5 Stars ♣♣♣♣♣ If only more stars could be added. This movie is one of the greatest movies out there right now. Heath Ledger, Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, and other contribute their acting skills to make this amazing film. In truth, it is hard to explain the pure awesomeness of this movie in a blog post. But there is another way to experience the movie other than reading about it. Go see it. Now.

Hancock Movie Review -Spoilers-

First off, I'll just say that this movie has a cool concept. A alien with super powers protecting the citizens of L.A. But John Hancock has little regard of public safety. He is a drunk, lonely man. One day, Hancock saves a Public Relations man named Ray. Ray offers John to have dinner, and Hancock meets Ray's wife Mary and son Aaron. Ray, desperate to repay John for saving his life, tells him that he will help John fix his public image. Ray tells John that he needs to be less destructive while saving people. While watching TV, John sees a news show where a lady says a warrant out for Johns arrest. Ray thinks that John going to jail would be good for John's image. He says that soon the public will need John again. So John goes to jail, and all the while crime shoots up in the city. On his first day in prison, some of the criminals he got locked up confront him. He warns them to move, but they don't budge. So John sticks of the criminals head up anothers ass. (Yes, really.) Ray gives Hancock advice and a suit to wear when he gets out.
Soon enough, Hancock is let out to stop a Bank robbery turned hostage situation. John saves a pinned down police officer, then enters the bank. John dispatches 3 men, then confronts the fourth. The man strapped C4 to all of the hostages, and has a detonator in his hand. He tells John that if he breaks into the vault, he will let the people go. The man soon makes the mistake of calling John an asshole (which occurs countless times during the movie), so John slices the man's hand off. Later, during dinner with Ray and his family, John discusses his origin. He says that he woke up one day in a hospital in Miami 80 years ago with his skull beat in. He also reveals that he does not age.
After that dinner, John puts Ray to bed (Ray being very drunk), then goes downstairs and attempts to kiss Mary. Mary throws Hancock through the wall of the house and says "If Ray finds out about me, your dead" John, who needs answers, asks Mary to meet him at his trailer. It is revealed that Mary and John are god like creatures born in pairs. Mary tells that all the others paired together and died. Its is revealed that John and Mary are connected. John angers Mary who gets in an aerial fight with John. The fight ends with much destruction, but Ray sees Mary fighting John. That night, Ray confronts Mary, with John in the room. John learns that he was once Mary's husband. We also learn that the others of Johns race died because they married and died. They die because when two of Johns race are close, they start to become mortal. Mary and John have been with each other for 3000 years. When John asks her about what happend 80 years ago, she says that they where becoming mortal again. John was attacked (by whom, it does not say) and hit in the head. Hard. And although John heals, he get amnesiea and does not remember Mary. So she leaves him to protect them both. When checking out of the hospital, the nurse asks for his John Hancock (signature), so John thinks that is his name.
In the prison where John was held, the bank robber (who now has a hook hand thing) and the two men who had the unfortunate butt incidnet are talking about getting revenge on John.
Later, John enters a liquor store to buy some beer. On the Tv, he sees a report of a jail breakout and a picture of the bank robber, but he does not recognize it. While trying to buy the beer, John realizes that the clerk his being held up. While stopping the robbery, John is shot. And he bleeds.
John is rushed to the hospital, and is visited by Mary. She tells that John is becoming mortal by being close to her. She asks him to fly far away so he will heal. Ray and Aaron also go to the hospital to visit John. The three escapees attack however, and shoot Mary. Infuriated, John throws two out of the window. Trying to find the third, John is shot by him. Every time John is shot, Mary feels the same pain. Mary dies, and John seems to. But before The robber can finish John off, Ray chops off his other hand. Hancock, still alive, flys away so Mary can heal. She does.
A month later, John calls Ray and tells him to look at the moon. John "wrote" Ray's buissnes (All Heart, an attempt to save the world as described by Ray) logo on the moon. John is seen in New York fighting crime after that.

Verdict

5 Stars ♣♣♣♣♣ -I thought that the story was great. It kept me guessing to the end, which I like. Will Smith and Charlize Theron are excellent in this movie. I believed that Mary really cared for John, and vice versa. Will was a cocky arrogant, well, asshole. And I loved it. It was defintley one of my favorite movies of 08.
